I'm not sure what to put here.  Hmm.  Well, lets start with:  I've always been big.  Always.  I was taller than everyone else all my life, and fatter to boot.  I carried it well, so I never got teased for it, and I never had any major health issues (thank god!) but when I hit 530 lbs my doctors all unanimously started pushing me to have the RNY surgery.  It took me one year to research and decide to have it, and one more year to pass all the tests to have it done.  I finally had the surgery on November 5th, 2008, the day after Obama was voted into office.

Yes, I delayed the surgery to make sure I could vote.  I'm a politics geek.  Deal with it.

Coming out of the hospital 2 days later was amazing.  Though I was groggy and not at my best, not only was I starting my new life but it seemed like the whole world was.  The celebrations on the streets around the world, the joy on people's faces here in Los Angeles, and the feeling that everyone had finally had the chance to start breathing again - it was like the whole world was sharing what I was going through.

And the experience has kept getting better.
