9 months post op

Feb 04, 2013

I have lot a lot of weight... and I am happy with that but these last 20lbs are harder than anything. Trying to be normal when everyone else is eating the types of food I used to binge on is almost impossible. I have had to leave social situations more than once because I feel I can't contain myself, or I end up over eating and sick. Making this a permanentt lifestyle change is proving really hard for me... and it is making me very depressed.cool

Home from hospital

May 24, 2012

Surgery went really well. It was very painfuI after, and still is pretty painful but I'm getting by, and I'm thrilled to be home. I have advanced to the "smooth food" stage of my diet (thank goodness). Im losing weight so quickly, 7lbs since surgery 3 days ago. I get full so quickly it's so fantastic! My doctor has me on really good medicine for pain and nausea, so I am feeling pretty good, I do get tired quickly though. My total weight loss since January is 43lbs now. It is so exciting. I'm finding a lot of satisfying smooth foods, like hummus, ricotta cheese with herbs and light spaghetti sauce, sugar free fruit bars, cheesey brocolli soup (blended until smooth). I am really happy with how things are going, and so greatful to have had the opportunity to have this surgery and now have this awesome tool. I can't wait til I am healed and back to my normal routine. Life is looking good, hope I keep healing and progressing.

Pre Op Diet

May 18, 2012

I have surgery in two days. Today is my last day with any solid food for a while. My regimen the last week has been a protein shake at breakfast and lunch, and a small no carb, high protein 300-400 calorie dinner. The next two days are clear liquids only and a bottle of magnesium citrate in the morning for bowel cleansing... yuck.

This week has been so challenging, It made me realize how much I am addicted to food. I have cried over pizza, burgers, and beers. I have been in a stage of mourning the loss of my best friend, food. I am really glad I did have to do this pre op diet though because, I feel more prepared for my life changes coming. I am filled with excitement and nervousness as my surgery comes closer and closer. The next couple of days are sure to be even more of a challenge,  but if I have come this far and worked this hard, nothing will stop me now. :)
