I guess it's time I write something about myself. I started the looking into WLS in 2002. One of my friends was going to France to have it done. She didn't make it back. She died 2 weeks after surgery due to complications. Another of my friends had RNY about 2 months later here in the states. She ended up in ICU for 3 weeks. So I decided not to go thru with the surgery. After a few more years when they started doing the surgery laparoscopic with so few complications. I started looking into it again. I had all my ducks in a row and my insurance (BCBS of TX) decided I need to do a year long supervised diet. I was just finishing up my year long diet when my insurance was due for renewal and guess what my company decided to put a rider on the insurance that they would no longer cover WLS. After building my new house and refinancing I decided to go to Spain and have Dr. Baltasar do the surgery. It took me about two months to get very thing together and off to Spain I went. I had surgery on May 17, 2007. Surgery went well and I was up and out of bed in 2 hours second day I was out and walking a block around the clincia. Dr B wants all his pt. to walk around the clinica before you can go. You have to stay in the country for 9 day s and within one hour from the clinica. I rented a villa and recouped by the pool for 9 days boy was it hard. (ha ha) Now I back home and learning how to eat again. It's been kind of hard to find what works for me. But, I just keep trying I sure I will get it soon.
