Lori W.
I am not sure where to begin my story.....
I am 43 years old and have been married for over 20 years to the love of my life. He is a wonderful husband and father to my kids. He truly is a gift from god!!!!
I have 6 wonderful children. Kiel who is 20 and currently lives in Chena Alaska. Joshua who is 18 and will join Kiel in Alaska on May 24. I am very excited for him. The Alaska wilderness...what a wonderful summer experience. Amanda who is 17 and is busy with High School, Church Youth Group, FFA, She has a market pig and a lamb this year so she is very busy. Wyatt who is 13 and a great kid to be around. He is always happy and so helpful to me. Mariah is 11 and a beautiful girl who loves to be with her friends and loves to go shopping with me. and last but not least Noah who is 4 and keeps me very busy. I have to run to keep up with him. All of my kids are a blessing to me and I would not want to do any other job than be a mother to them.
I have been overweight all of my life. I started out at almost 11 pounds and have always had a "healthy appetite". In elementary school I was always a little chubby but it wasn't until high school that I got truly overweight. After having all of my kids I am at my heaviest weight ever.
I started researching WLS about 7 years ago but knew that it would not be covered by insurance so kind of gave up on it and went on weight watchers for about 8 months and lost over a hundred pounds about 5 years ago and promptly got pregnant with my youngest son. About 3 years ago my husbands job changed insurance companies and started a Bariatric Program at the hospital he works at. I went to the first informational meeting but chickened out after finding out that the surgeon had not actually done any Bariatric surgery. It was not until this last January that I decided it had been long enough and I was getting heavier all the time so I went to another informational meeting and found out that Dr. Boulay had been recruted from New Jersey and that she did lap RNY which is what I wanted to have. After that meeting I began my process and have done all of my tests and studies. I have a very large hiatle hernia and have sleep apnea so those are my comorbidities. My Dr.says that my surgery will be a little longer than normal because of the hernia repair.
I am hoping to have surgery at the end of July or the first week in August.
