Hello everyone,
I would like to Thank those of you who posted your wishes and blessings for me!
I feel like I have a whole new family with this site. Everyone seems so great here. There is a special bond with everyone here.
People who never had problems with their weight just don't understand what we go through.
Yes, some of us got this way on our own, doing all the wrong things, but, when it is out of control and affecting your mental and physical health, it's time to do something to get those extra years added back onto your life!
I have had several people say: "The good Lord didn't mean for you to disect your own body!"
And my response to them is: "No, and the good Lord didn't mean for anyone to have their eyebrow, lip, nose, tongue, belly button, or anything else pierced either. Nor did he mean for anyone to have their body tatooed, but people do it every day and don't think anything about it." Those sort of things are luxuries, fads, passing notions. They don't normally affect your health or your long term quality of life.
I am totally psyched about this!I feel good, I have a positive attitude and I can't wait to cross over. I actually ordered a "goal" outfit! Didn't get too presumptuous though. I ordered a size 12. I have a stash of different foods and drinks ready. I bought some baby food. I don't know if I'll like it, but I plan on following the Doctors orders to the letter! I don't want anything to go wrong.
Beginning in Jan. with a stroke that I had in the car on the way to my work, I have been checked for just about everything under the sun. Except for the arthritis, sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, hiatal hernia, etc. etc. I am in good health. That sounds funny! With all that wrong with me, I guess, but for what it is worth, I am generally in good health!
I had a colonoscopy and an EDG on my hernia, to make sure it was good to go. Dr. will fix that while he is in there. And for the record...if anyone ever wanted to read about the surgery for having a hiatial hernia fixed, it is AS dangerous, if not more, than GBS.
My colonoscopy was good. The doctor made sure to take several random biopsies, especially in the colon because of a long family history of colon cancer, and I checked out good for all of it.
I had an EEG back in March because of the stroke.
We still don't know what caused it, but, my weight can't be helping. I was taking Wellbutrin to stop smoking, they feel this could have triggered the stroke. I took this drug about 3 years ago also, and didn't have any reactions to it. But, the good thing is....I DON'T SMOKE ANYMORE! I get cravings, but they pass as fast as they come. I hope I can stay off of them for life.
I am looking forward to getting rid of my CPAP machine. I just want a good nites sleep without the "Darth Vader" mask! I sure hope this weight loss gets rid of that apnea. That is the scariest thing I have ever had. When you drift off to sleep and you can literally feel your heart skip those beats because you are not breathing! Wow!
One more weekend of pain killers to get through my house and yard work, and I'll hopefully NEVER need them again.
I know I will still have some discomfort with the joint pain, but taking off this excess fat will be a blessing.
Anyway, I want to Thank everyone again for the postings and all. You are all a treasure. This really helps me feel great about my decision to go through with this surgery.
Anyone wishing to contact me at my e-mail address, feel free.
[email protected] and, you can call me Missy. Everyone does.
I would love to hear from everyone. Any suggestions on food, what to expect, what to stay away from...feel free to drop a note. I would love to hear some easy ideas for getting those proteins in every day.
Congrats to all of you!
Missy (Melissa)
