Like most I have struggled with my weight from an early age.  When I graduated from college in 2004 I was the heaviest I had ever been (235) and began to seriously consider wls but I did not have the support of my family.  I was however able to talk my mother into plastics and so in one procedure I was able to drastically change my shape and size and was really loving the "new" me.  Obviously a little too much because over the past 2 1/2 years I gained and lost so much that my highest weight became 275.  I guess in some ways the plastics helped me to not "appear" as big as I really was but inside I felt miserable.  So my journey officially began again on December 7th with my vertical sleeve gastrectomy in Mexico with the wonderful Dr. Alvarez.  Thanks to everyone on OH, especially the VSG, BAF and Texas Boards!! I know y'all don't know me just yet but without your stories I would not have been so comfortable in my decision to have wls.  It's great to know that I am not on this journey alone and hopefully my story can also be of encouragement to someone in their struggle with obesity.
