Sooooo Ive been follwing the diet given to me by Hershey Med and have dropped 20 lbs....all has been going good!!! Until i hit our Holiday celebrations here at work, then OK for awhile and yesterday NOT SO GOOD!  I met up with some chips, dip and candy that I bonded with. Yeechhh! Its back to the sraight and narrow today. Meanwhile all continues to go good toward my goal. Knees feel a little better due to weight drop. Clothes a tad looser. No more problems with Janumet. Feeling more upbeat. (new ant-d must be kicking in well..Ha! (not funny)  

I got my first appointment to see the nutritionist at Hershey Med on Oct 21.  Whoopeeeeee!  And so it begins......... 

Well I got back the results of all the blood test work I had with the exception of the hyperlori. All were normal, so that's good. Also my doctor put me on Janumet for diabetes. Still waiting for a call from Hershey Med for my first appt. And waiting and waiting and waiting....called and told them my bloodwork was complete did they need anything else....sigh..... 

OH...here's good news....My doctor is trying me on Janumet now, when I told him Avandia makes me so tired and its so hard to lose weight on this anymore.

I will be attending the seminar in Philadelphia tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing the speakers and getting inspiration and motivation.  

Today I went into Hershey Med and had all the necessry bloodwork done. Will find out the results next week I guess. I passed my psycholgical review, I saw they had that box checked and recd as "OK". Am waiting for my first appt at Hershey Med.  Will update then. Have some anxiety the longer it takes to get this on the road. I just keep reading the forum and hoping for the best.     

OK,,,next week I make my first appointment with my doctor for the battery of blood work tests that Hershey Med wants for the WLS. Fasting lipid profile, liver function test, comprehensive metabolic balance, CBC w/ platelets, HA1C, TSH, Hyplori, VT D 25, & Intact PTH.  Plus have a physical at my doctor's. Then once Hershey Med gets those, they schedule my first appointment. I have been unsuccessful in finding a diabetes med to replace avandia for me which causes me to retain fluids and have difficulty in losing weight. I am just so tired of all of this. (not the pre-WLS stuff, just battling my co-morbidities and feeling so tired all the time (another side effect of avandia).    

And when I read the postings about post surgical problems encountered I cringe and hope I'll have smooth sailing  and make the necessary adjustments I need to make to comply properly with my new program of eating.   

Been waiting to hear something from Hershey Med for my first appointment...nothing...soooooo today I called them and found out that my doctors evaluation letter was never recd, even though his nurse personally called me and said she had faxed it in back in June.  Duhhhhh. asked them to please re-fax, Attn : Head Nurse for the WLS prog ( name removed).   Am hoping to hear something sooon..... Not chickening out, but of course feel some apprehension, which is normal. Keep reading all the questions and info on the website as much as I can. I am so encouraged by those who are down a significant # of pounds after the WLS. This month the topis is arthritis in the WLS support group at the Med Ctr. Am committing to going, since that's a major comorbidity for me. (both knees, yammah,,,,,). 

well today the rubber met the road, as  I had my
 w/ my psychiatrist and he was discussing the weight loss surgery w/me and took a serious tone. He was counseling me about the ramifications of the surgery pro & con and particularly about the period immediately after the surgery, he stated there is psychological trauma involved w/ this surgery and to be aware of that. He  also weighed me  ( I feel horrible at this weight) and told me he wanted me to start now on a concerted weight loss effort and he will monitor me as I go along. Next time he sees me will compose his referral letter to the WLS surgery program for me to Hershey Med. That will be 31 July. His main council is that this is NOT a cure-all (don’t I know it) and to prepare myself.
