Well, he left Conway with only two week notice and then abruptly left SEB in Charlotte, NC. You have to wonder what is wrong with his track record. Heard he didn't get along well with staff and patients at both locations. Heard from someone else they threw a party when he left Florence, SC. The ones who suffer are the patients who decide to have surgery with this doctor. You posts his location as Conway, SC, but don't know where - they don't want him back either.

Dr. Balder operated on me 1-10-11. I had the gastric bypass. At the time he was with SEB. Now I understand he went back to SC . I am down 87 lbs since the surgery. Dr. Balder is a very good doctor. He answered all of my questions before and after the surgery. Thank goodness I didn't have any complications. I was looking forward to my 6 month visit, so I could show off the weight I have lost. I enjoyed having him for my doctor. I will miss him very much.
I wish you all of the best Dr. Balder.

It has been 1 year and 3 weeks since my lap band surgery performed by Dr. Balder in Conway. I have lost 64 lbs. However, Dr. Balder left 2 weeks after my surgery and went to Southeast Bariatrics in Charlotte, NC, however, I got a letter this past weekend that Dr. Balder is leaving that firm. I was very pleased w/Dr. Balder and would use him again. Now my dilima is that I need a new doctor to continue follow up visits with. Someone near Florence, SC. I don't particularly want to go back to Charlotte, NC. I only went there because Dr. Balder was there.

Any suggestions.

Wow, I am so impressed by my experience with Dr. Balder and the staff at Southeast Bariatrics (SEB) in Charlotte. I chose SEB because it is a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Center of Excellence. I chose Dr. Balder because he was new to SEB's practice and I figured I could get scheduled for surgery faster using the new guy. Both were great decisions

SEB has a well run, established process to move you through the insurance pre-approval procedures, efficiently (with as few office visits as possible) and quickly. Dr. Balder is very experienced in laproscopic RNY, having 13 years in the bariatric field. He does things a bit differently than Dr. Vollinger (so he says), like doing 5 incisions vs. 7, and not using a morphine pump post-op in the hospital (not sure why), and double staples so that he very rarely has patients with leaks.

My pre and post-op experience has been super. I had some issues with the hospital administration (will review that separately), but Dr. Balder and Dr. Vollinger at SEB have been great. I'm now almost 4 weeks post-op and feeling great. I've not had any complications and have been losing weight steadily. I wish I had done this 10 years ago, but am grateful that I have done so now. I'm looking forward to seeing my progress, and am very happy with the results so far.

Dr. Balder was very forthright about answering all my questions, both pre-surgery and post-surgery. I had appointments to see him post-op on the day I was scheduled for surgery. Everything has been happening like clockwork. The training/information provided by SEB is very thourough, and the Emmi on-line description of the procedure is very helpful. I would rate both SEB and Dr. Balder and A+.

I found Dr. Balder and his staff very informative. They gave me lots of valuable tips and moral support to get me through the surgery gitters. The staff is very pleasant always.
They are always there for me. Especially Sabrina has gone above and beyond to help me every step of the way. She is always available when I call with a question and it is always pleasant to talk to her.
I do recommend Dr. Balder and his staff.
I loved the Rivertown Surical Center instead of a large hospital. It was a very pleasant environment and alot more personal attention.
I am so glad I went there.

I had my lap band done on October 14,2009 and all went well. I had to have another surgery on November 19, 2009 (my birthday)because the port had flipped. Dr. Balder kept telling me how sorry he was this happened. This was not any fault of his or mine, it is just something that happens. Dr. Balder is a very nice man and his staff is wonderful too. He will answer any question you have to the best of his ability. I believe he knows it all. The program he has for all his surgeries is great. They go over everything with you and give you a package that explains everything too. It's wonderful!!! I thank you Dr. Balder for helping me get my life back and thank you for the happy birthday wish as you were leaving Rivertown that day. That was very nice of you to see it was my BD. God Bless you for what you do for us.

Love this little cutie! He made me feel very comfortable and explained how PCOS affects my body and how its curable using WLS. rnrnHis staff is great and the process has been a DREAM!! Its a one stop shop.. get it all done there! rnrnOk so surgery came and went.. I couldn't believe how much they had prepared me for what was about to take place! Everything they said was going to happen.. did! So when it did I knew that walking out the gas and the bloating was gonna work. I totally appreciate their dedication to the \"Program\" they have set up.. I feel like they have set me up for success and that is worth more than the surgery! Thanks so much!

Dr. Balder is the BEST! My surgery went great and recovery has been uneventful. The whole process was smooth from beginning to end. As long as you follow what they say to do you should have no problems.
