Sodium?

Hi again!
I've been reading so much about protein, carbs and vitamins, but nothing about sodium intake. DSers malabsorb sodium, as well, i'm assuming, so is there a recommended amount per day that i should consider?

Thanks again for your insightfulness and wisdom!

Almost everyone in the modern world eats too much.  No, it's not something you need to worry about supplementing unless you are in to distance running, Iron Man, or something extreme.

I think you've just stumped everyone! Great question!

Yes, we can malabsorb sodium.  I have naturally low BP, but after my DS around year 2 I was getting faint episodes.  A friend of mine also suffered low sodium a year or so after RNY, so it came to my thoughts.  I started increasing my salt intake and it was all I needed.

Silly me, I never considered the fact that we malabsorb sodium, too. I tend to find most foods out and about too salty for my tastes anyway, both pre and post-op. I don't believe I've seen any issues to date lab wise, but good to know. Thanks for sharing.

Warm hugs,
