How often do you weigh yourself?

Today is exactly three weeks since surgery. I am only down 13lbs.  Should I be saying "only"? I told myself I would only weigh myself once a week. But I find that I want to get on the scale everyday. I am feeling a bit discouraged. I am following my diet but feel like I should be losing more weight.

I know I'm not supposed to, but I weigh myself pretty much every day.  Maybe every 2-3 days if I forget.  I measure once every two weeks.

I've never seen a book of rules that says we're not supposed to weigh daily.  Different things work for different people.  If you're the sort of person who gets stressed by day to day fluctuations, it's probably better to weigh weekly.  If you're not that sort of person, weighing daily is great.

Nope. Doesn't stress me out at all.  I like to keep track of fluctuations based on activity, intake, etc.

That's 4.3 pounds a week!  OMG!  That's awesome.  How much did you expect you would have lost by now?!

I weigh myself daily and love it.  I use TrendWeight.com to track my weight and it shows me the trend instead of me getting frustrated about day to day fluctuations.  It's great.  (I do measurements once  a month.)

Stick to the plan and you'll reach your goal.  There's no prize for losing the most weight the fastest.

I have weighed myself daily from the very start. I take the ups with the downs as your body does fluctuate. If that's a dealbreaker for your mood for the day, please try once a week for your sanity. For some, that's a better solution.

I weight daily then torment myself with worry that I'm eating too much when I know I'm not...

EVERY...FREAKIN'...DAY

for better or worse..

In the beginning it was sublime with the weight falling off...

Then it turned to torture once the stalls started...

but now at over a year out it keeps me accountable and present!!

No you should not be saying'only,' absolutely not! You are doing great. Don't compare yourself to anyone.  Easier said than done,  I know.  This is a very personal journey and everyone goes through it differently.  If you are concerned ask your surgeon or nutritionist,  but I don't think you need to be!  As for your question,  I usually weigh myself once a week.

I weigh once a week and take measurements once per month.

I'm one of those who can easily let the scale dictate my emotions on any given day so after surgery i committed to once per week. Maintenance will likely be a different story.

Surgery: April 30, 2014: HW: 288 SW: 250 Achieved Goal 149 lbs: April 8, 2015 CW: 158 lbs (working on losing 65 lb regain as of June 1, 2021. Weight was at 215 lbs). Fighting every darn day!
