How many calories at 2 months?

I'm so confused. I thought at two months most people could only eat 600 or so calories a day. I'm around 7-800 now. I am exercising like crazy, protein first, plenty of water but the scale has been stuck for 3 weeks and it's driving me crazy. I just read an old "plateau buster" post that said not to eat under 1200 cals. Do I need to increase? Might be kind of hard at this point but I could add another protein shake or two. I'm so frustrated! I feel like I did in the past where I would lose a little and get stuck and never succeed. :(

I would talk to your doctor and nutritionist.

I was eating close to 800 calories per day at 2 months.  I also exercised a lot.  Make sure you are hitting your protein goals (My goal was 60 -80 grams / day) and drink tons of water - I mean constantly.

Your body sometimes just needs time to adjust.  I would not recommend going up to 1200 calories unless your doctor is telling you to.  I am still under that pretty regularly and I exercise  A LOT and am tall.

You got this!

Adding calories to lose weight doesn't make a lot of sense.  It's a good thing to talk to your surgeon or NUT about.

How much protein are you getting every day?  How much water?  What are you eating exactly?

Stalls happen and if you stick to your plan, the weight will start coming off again.

I eat protein mostly but still having a hard time reaching goal. I get around 50g of protein per day. I had a really hard time choking down protein shakes early on (that I loved preop) so I will start trying to have a couple of those everyday to get to my goal. I feel like I'm eating really well. I am doing this on my own since I had surgery in Mexico. I just don't understand how I can eat so few calories, work out hard and stay exactly the same weight for so long. I had a great loss the first month (43 lbs) so I try not to complain but now that it's going in three weeks with no loss I'm starting to freak out like I always did in the past and I hate that feeling. I thought I had mentally prepared myself for stalls but I guess I didn't!

Are you seeing a therapist?  That could really help unpack all the feelings you're experiencing.

I had my surgery 6/10/2014.  I have had a terrible time getting my protein in.  I was doing good to get 30 grams in.  I just could not gag another protein drink down.  Before surgery I drinked protein drinks all the time??  Someone contacted me on one of the Forums and told me about Genepro Genetic Protein by Musclegan Research.  They have reduced the protein from one scoop to one tablespoon.  It is oderless and tasteless.  It dissolves and does not clump.  I got mine in Friday and it has been wonderful.  I sprinkle it on food....mix with Crystal Light and you can't taste it.  It is 30 grams of protein so it is easy to get your protein in.  There is a video on their website demonstrating it.  If you order some ....use Code NWYNN to save 15%.....it mostly pays for the shipping.....Good Luck!

I'm 11wks out and I typically have less than 600cal/day and feel satisfied. Maybe 1-2 days a week I might push 700-800, just depends on my protein shake of the day.

Look at the inches you have lost not just the weight. 43 pounds in 1 month is a ton of weight. My doctor and NUT told me on average it would be about 10 pounds per month. I also lost alot at the begining and now my weight loss has slowed some. I have not lost but a few pounds over the past 2 month but have dropped significant inches. Almost 2 pants sizes in that time.

Don't weigh all the time. Look at how your clothes are fitting too.

You got this. You are doing great.

Thank you all for the encouragement. You're all right. I am down inches and four jean sizes and walking 3 miles. I couldn't have done that just two months ago. I'm going to have my husband hide the scale and only weigh monthly and stick to 700 cals for now. Definitely need to get more protein in. Thank you for the support! I love this forum! :)
