Disappointed

I think 12 Lbs is a great start! Please try and remember that your surgery is simply a tool for you to use to make positive lifestyle changes. Like you, after my RNY in Oct 2009, I lost rather slowly. The real kicker, though, is that by Christmas that year, I was down 40 Lbs! I wasn't ever able to recall losing 40 Lbs in 9 weeks before. Try not to let this slow start stress you.

I followed a stricter diet that was outlined by vets on this board over that of my surgeon.  I ate under 800 calories, 100+protein and under 40 carbs.  I didn't worry about fats at all.  Also, track everything through My Fitness Pal and record your measurements.  Sometimes when you are not losing weight you are losing inches as the body readjusts. Good luck

I'm a newbie just like you but it looks like you're on the lighter side as well. I think you're doing great!!! I wouldn't focus on the  pounds and definitely don't compare yourself to anyone else. Keep up the good work!

You are only 36 pounds from your goal - YES - it will come of slower than someone who has 100+ to goal.  You lost a lot in pre-op, so the big burst of loss may have passed already.

I lost a bit more in my first month, but that was with 150+ pounds to get to goal - not 36.

You are doing great!
