Disappointed
Well, today is my 1 month surgiversary (surgery was 9/23). I am down 12 pounds, I think. I eat between 650-800 calories a day but I have been skimping in the water department, sometimes only getting 48+ ounces a day. I am a little bummed because I thought I would have lost more. I was at a stall during 3-4 weeks and just started losing again in the last few days. Am I losing like I should be? Is my weight coming off slow because I did well losing before surgery? Should I cut down my calories? My plan says 600-800 until regular foods, then up to 1200. I don't think I could eat 1200 this early on. I will talk to my NUT next week for clarification. I know I need to up my water and exercise.

You may be eating too many calories. I was told 600-800 calories once cleared for full foods. I am 6.5 months out and I still can only eat up to 850 calories. I hit mine and my NUT's goal. I go next week to talk about maintenance. I know everyone has a different plan but I think it's too many calories unless you are working out too, so you're replacing what you worked off.
Congratulation on hitting your goal, that is terrific. I haven't eaten over 800 calories a day. I get or nearly get 10,000 steps per day, maybe I should up my exercise.

Your metabolic rate has everything to do with how much you lose. Did you have that test done before your surgery? My resting metabolic rate is 1270, so I'm not losing much on my 1200 calorie pre op diet. I would think that for most people, 1200 calories a day with the sleeve would be a lot especially in the early months when you don't have any hunger. I plan to eat 500-600 calories a day of dense protein, no carbs or sugar and get this weight off fast, before the hunger comes back. Everyone is different. I have surgery next Monday, so I'll be interested to see what the experienced sleevers have to say about this.
I have not had the metabolic rate test. Maybe I need to get that done. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I am eating no more than 800 calories per day. I started regular foods on Tuesday but have not gone over my 800 calories since surgery. I use my Fitbit and it says I am under budget, on most days, I am burning twice as much as I put in. Yesterday I had 739 calories but burned 2160 calories. Not sure what to do at this point except up water and exercise more.

Sweetie-pie- look at your ticker...You are doing fantastic! I think 800 calories right now is fine...keep them with protein first, then good for you veggies. I agree that you need to up your water intake. Try for 90 or so a day. Don't push the calories. Loose the weight first. 10,000 steps is approximately 4 miles a day- Great. Let your body do what it wants---you will get there! Patience, grasshopper; this time in weight loss mode --use it to learn good habits you can maintain forever...to do something in the short term that your'e not willing to keep up with for the rest of your life is the old way of "dieting", and we all know where that used to get us--Nowhere. Smiles your way today! bonnie
