This time next week, I'll be sleeved and I'm trying not to be nervous and I have to say I'm getting quite emotional. I feel like I'm grieving the loss of my old life although my old life has caused me nothing but pain. Did anyone else have these emotional reactions right before their surgery?

I had a melt down the moment I went from recovery to my room. I was so mad at myself for letting myself get to the point where I needed surgery. Then I prayed. I asked the Lord for forgiveness and for Him to cover me during my recovery and journey.

I'm scheduled for next week as well (10/30). My emotions are definitely a bit more volatile than normal. Of course some of that may be related to this wonderful pre-op diet :)

The pre op diet I'm on is definitely a part of the problem. I'm hungry all the time and losing very little.,  plus I've been sliding off the diet a bit in the past few days. That has me worried that I'm going to screw up my sleeve and fail at this just like I've failed at every other diet I've ever been on.

Totally normal in my opinion. I had a huge range of emotions the week before.  I was almost giddy in recovery because I actually went through with it.  When I saw my family, I just kept repeating "I did it" I was so surprised I did not back out.

Keep yourself busy, you will do great!

I am right there with you. My surgery is next Tuesday, October 28th. I am doing OK on the pre-op diet - down 7 pounds in a week. not feeling hungry. But then again, my pre-op is not all liquids - it is 2 shakes and one meal. I flip-flop b between feeling nervous and being excited - but I have to say the excitement seems to win out. I am so ready for this incredible journey.

Best of luck to you and all of us as we move to the losers' bench.

I'm on the same 1200 calorie shakes/one meal diet.  Down only 3 pounds. I know I'll be happy once it's over. Just feeling anxious about the recovery mostly. I'm single and have no one to really take care of me, so I'm a bit nervous about that, too.

I can definitely feel some things myself. No huge meltdowns yet, but feeling remorse, second guessing, and a much shorter fuse. But then there is also excitement.
