Weight Gain

I think I've come to the hardest part of my weight journey, having to lose regained weight.

It started last year when I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter, I had the worst sugar cravings in my entire life.

Now my daughter is 5 months old and I'm left with 80lbs to lose to get back to my goal weight. I'm so disappointed with myself! I need to be healthy for her and myself!

I guess that's why I'm back, I need support to get back to my goal.  I have to stop hating my body and feeling like this has beaten me!

You still have your VSG tool.  I am also losing regain.  Back to basics and it will come off.

Get back into it. Meal prep, track your macros, get some exercise, be mindful of what you are doing and why you are doing it. Just like before this is all up to you. You know how to do it, you still have all the tools, just start using them. Don't let small slip ups derail you, if you fall get right back up.

I found myself in the same situation as you about 3 months ago. 4 years out I had regained about 50lbs. I am happy to report I have dropped almost half of that and my fitness and focus improve each day. It is much slower the 2nd time around, so stay mindful and do not get frustrated. This is not a sprint, and I would suggest not thinking of it as a journey because a journey has an end. Make the change.

Be kind to yourself. You had a beautiful baby!! Start anew. One day, one pound at a time. 80 can seem overwhelming. Do it in 8 pound mini goals. You can do this!!

You CAN do this.  Get back to your basics and find a therapist you click with to work on your self-hatred and disappointment.  Here are my basics, yours might be slightly different:

1. Prioritize protein and water
2. Deprioritize carbs, especially the refined and processed ones
3. Make the most of healthy fats
4. Eat three meals a day with no snacks
      a. Do not drink while eating or for 30 minutes after eating
5. Avoid liquid calories (breakfast protein shake is the exception)
6. Weigh portions, log everything consumed
7. Eat mindfully and with no distractions aside from real live people
8. Move as much as possible
9. Weigh myself daily
10. Be kind to myself

First, Congratulations on your new baby! and as everyone said- be kind to yourself. One day at a time, one step at a time. I also want to say even people who don't have weight problems before pregnancy don't all magically bounce back to their pre-pregnancy weight by 5 months. It takes time.

It is good that you want to get back on track. I think Gwen gave an excellent run down of getting back to basics. You do have to figure out what works for you- Breakfast protein shake or no protein shake? Personally, I do eat more than 3 times a day. For me I feel like I would have to eat too much at each meal if I only ate 3 times. Protein, fluids and vitamins are not negotiable though :)

There is also a link in my signature to the 5-day-meat test which is about getting back on track by getting back to protein forward food...it might give you the jump start you need.

You can do this!
