So i bought the FIT*****arge HR as a gift to myself for the new year. I am confused as to why at the begining of each day it says i have already burned X amount of calories? Do we burn calories while we sleep?

Yes. Tossing, turning, digestion, breathing, cellular renewal: as long as your heart is beating, you are burning calories.  :)

As long as you are alive, you burn calories. If you were in a coma, you'd be burning calories. When you wake up each day, it shows the calories you were estimated to burn while asleep.

Estimated calories burned according to fitbit is really pointless. I hope you are not going to use that number to determine how many calories to consume. Follow your plan.
