Lightheaded and ready to pass out

So I've been on my liquid diet for about three days now, I have not been a strict with it as I should be but I'm having problems with it. I am currently dizzy lightheaded and generally feel like I'm going to pass out, my calorie consumption is tween 2000 and 5000 a day. It depends on how I feel and how strictly been and how hungry I feel. I am really struggling with it. I start my official diet supervision on Monday.  I've been tracking my powdering take with my fitness pal and it has been good to see exactly where I'm at. As everybody knows some days are extremely hard to stay on plan.

I am also very depressed, due to the fact that I've got more hoops to jump through now then I initially had when I first started this journey. I may have to tell several people that I didn't want to tell about  possibly having the surgery. This is due because with my work schedule I will need to take off work for several hours in order to go to the meetings for the supervised diet program, that are held on Thursdays and I will be working three of those Thursdays and will need to ask someone to cover me so I can take off work to go. I don't want to use my vacation time because I will need that for the surgery.

One thing....stay away from caffeine...it will stimulate you and make you hungary and will keep you awake.  I had to quit drinking even tea.  Make sure you stay hydrated,  Water is so important in this journey.  Get you a good protein drink.....you need your protein.....I found Genepro http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump.  You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food.  This stuff is great.  One tablespoon equals a scoop of Whey and has 30 grams of protein.  It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion.  You can also order it from Amazon.  I go by every morning to a shake shop....get a Chunky Monkey (35 grams of protein).....add a scoop of Genepro (30 grams of protein)....mid morning I fix a Crystal Light and add another scoop.....I already have 95 grams for the day!!!  You can also get ISOPURE from GNC and it has 40 grams of protein per bottle (all ready to drink).  This will help the hungry.  Lot of it is our mind making us think we are starving to death and have to have something.  During the liquid diet process......I would get those packages of instant potato in different flavors and make it thin to soup consistency....drink or eat it like potato soup......I never really cared for cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup.  I found everywhere in town that sold soup that I could drive thru and get a quick cup (you have to watch out for the ones that have chunks).... would mostly get the cheese soups...... you can do this.....you have made up your mind for the surgery and this is part of the journey we all have had to do.  I was fortunate that I only had to do a week of liquids before the surgery......read on the forums of some doing it for month????

Your dizziness as well as your depression is probably because of the huge drop in calories you are doing from what you were eating before. Just try to hang in there for a few more days and it will get better. I had to do 30 days of nothing but skim milk and no calorie drinks before my surgery. The first week I thought I would die but after the first week it got better, my body got used to the drop in calories and I did pretty good after that. My only cheat was towards the end I ate some swiss cheese but otherwise I stuck to the plan. Good luck to you, we all have to jump thru the hoops unless we pay cash for the surgery and few of us can afford that.

The first few days are always the hardest.  Hang in there.

Can I ask what type of liquid diet you're on?  It sounds like the daily calorie count is very high for a liquid diet.

Any time people suddenly have a very large decrease in their caloric and carbohydrate intake, they can experience dizziness as the body adjusts. As one of the other posters said, just hang in there for a couple more days because it usually gets much better after 4 or 5 days.

Does the surgical office not offer the diet program meetings at any other time? Most of the programs that I'm aware of that have mandatory meetings are for them at least twice a week, and often three times a week, in order to accommodate people's work schedules. Do they have rules about how many you can miss? Sometimes the requirement is that you attend a certain number, and if people miss one or two sessions they just have to attend for an extra week or two.  That might delay things by a week or two (but it also might not).  Explain that you need to work and might not be able to get off (even if you explain why you need off, which you don't want to do) and see what they can do.

As Geek said, that seems like a LOT of calories for a liquid diet (even if it includes one meal as you indicated in a previous post).  What kind of liquids are you drinking??

Make sure you are drinking plenty - it will help with the hunger and dizziness - if your back teeth are not floating, you are not drinking enough!!!!

I think your calorie consumption during the day should be nearer to 2000 than 5000 and even 2000 is a lot on a liquid diet, so make sure you are making the best choices you can - both for the shakes and the meal you are allowed.

Yes it is very hard, I'm on day 4 of a 25 day liquid diet. They're letting me have veggie soup and that's all the food I can have. I drink a ton of water, low cal Gatorade, unsweetened ice tea and a few cups of coffee in the morning. And a lot of protein. You'll start to feel better soon.

IF I am to understand correctly, you are doing a liquid diet on your own -- not under the orders of your doctor/program?  If I am right, may I ask why?  There is really no benefit for you if it's not part of your weight loss surgery's plan.  It is not sustainable long term.

In one of his other posts, he indicated that he is a bit over the maximum weight/BMI in order to have the surgery done, so he needs to lose some weight in order to move forward with the approval process.

I'm not sure a 5000 calorie liquid diet is the best way to accomplish that.
