Started consuming something other than water, Powerade Zero, and broth today

It was a cup of vanilla Greek yogurt earlier today, and a couple of forkfuls of ricotta cheese in the evening.  Nothing awful happened, though I did feel queasy a little after the ricotta.  Preparing myself for a brutal Thanksgiving.  I come from a family that busts each others balls pretty thoroughly, me included.

Wow...it's not going to be easy to sit through such a big meal when you are not going to be able to partake.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...whatever you do...don't try to get in 1 more fork full after you have eater your measured amount. The foamies are really really really hard! Esp when the food won't go down.

Stick to clear liquids and a few spoonfuls of something puréed.

I'm not.  My Sister got me some ricotta cheese and yogurt to eat.  It's going to suck, I know that.  But I consciously made the decision to have the surgery before the holidays.  I've been mentally preparing for it.  Even then, I know it won't be fun.  No turkey, no mashed potatoes, no dessert, no beer...I'm ready.

It really isn't as bad as it might seem to be.  Plan ahead and focus on your family and conversation.  I remember that first Thanksgiving I did not want attention drawn to what I was or was not eating so I did not make a big deal out of it.  I planned ahead and stuck to my plan.  I didn't expect any special treatment and brought along whatever I needed.

It is doable and it sets the tone for the rest of the holidays to come, both this year and the years to come.

Who knew there was more to Thanksgiving the food?

It is going to be tough for many of us who are still in the post-surgery phases.  I am on Phase 2 but I can have mashed potatoes.  My sister is bringing me some after their dinner is over, I have no interest in sitting around watching them eat lol.  Just remember this though...don't yearn for or grieve for those past huge Thanksgiving dinners...they're part of what got us here in the first place!!!
