WhenI had my EGD Tuesday and all my labs pre-op they showed elevated bilirubin.  My surgeon ordered abdomen CT and hepatitis test.  Anyone experienced this?  Should I be worried?  I am also concerned this could delay surgery which is 9 days away.

If your avitar is a current pic then I don't think you have any problems :-)

How elevated was it?  Is your sclera yellow?  Press your forearm, when you release is the spot yellowish or just paler than your skin?

If it was elevated bili in your urine- that just  happens sometimes.

Good luck

The only think i have been low or high in so far is my glucose was a bit high...and my vitamin d was low.  So i am on vitamin d.  I am sure everything will be fine.  Just think positive thoughts.

A higher than normal bilirubin level can be cause by a number of things...gallbladder issues (ie: a duct blocked by a stone) and hepatitis are the most common reasons.

I wouldn't be too worried.

It might delay your surgery depending on the reason for your elevated bilirubin.  Like the others said, it can be due to hepatitis, a blocked bile duct/gallbladder disease.  I am suprised he didn't order a sonogram also to look at your  gallbladder.  If you do have gallbladder disease, he can take out your gallbladder at the same time as your surgery.  If you dont have a gallbladder, you can still get stones in the bile ducts.  It can also be elevated from pancreatitis but you would know if you had that - it is extremely painful.

Wait and see the results but I would request a sonogram

I did-post surgery.  I had an abdominal ultra sound and all it showed was that my liver was still somewhat fatty.  Gastroenterologist was not concerned and my Nut thought it might be due to my weight loss.
Do you have a gall bladder?  Gallstones in the bile duct will elevate your bilirubin as well.
