Had surgery Oct 24th, home now, all went textbook they tell me, they found a ginormous hiatal hernia they fixed (we had suspected I had one).

But I just want to pass on, yes the surgery hurts and yes recovery is painful, but I have to say that in the hospital my greatest distress wasn't my tummy, but my throat!  Being intubated, plus all the mouth breathing I was doing sleeping on my back (I am NOT a back sleeper normally) tore the crap out of my throat... definitely some times my pain level with my throat was higher than with my stomach.  Not something I expected so I thought I'd pass it on.

I'd have to agree with you. My throat was the killer!!!! ..My Dr only allowed the bed to be at 55degrees so I couldn't fully recline either!
