OT: A question for the runners
Not workout related, but I have a question. I think it might be a weird question too. My daughter has officially run 100 miles this school year. She is so proud of her accomplishment and so am I. I'm looking for a way to commemorate it for her that doesn't involve food because my first thought was "this calls for a trip to get ice cream"! She is 8, which I know is young, but I really want to encourage her to keep running. She says she really loves it and that it makes her feel like she is flying.
I don't love running, but I am working on it slowly so we can do more events together since she is so young. We did the "color me rad" 5K a few weeks ago.
So I want to know if you have an idea. How do runners celebrate their accomplishments?

If you want to foster her running habit, and she is into it, give her something running related - but make it cool. A new MP3 player, or some neato earphones. Running socks, shoes, maybe? Cute workout clothes?
I would still get her something not workout related as well - she is 8 - and I would get her something fun she always wanted... a toy, some techie thing... something she enjoys that is not food related.

A GPS watch to track her progress. I use a Garmin. You can store and view activities from the watch on their free website. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=83280&pvID=102351
How do we celebrate our accomplishments?
Bananas!
Tshirts!
BLING!
The finishers bling is what a lot of us are about. I'll do about any race just for the medal. In fact I have said I won't do the Disney Princess Half because I don't want a tiarra medal, and my dream medal is an IM and The Marine Corps Marathon.
Find a Local awards shop and have her a medal made.
