Menstruation and water weight??

Just if it is normal to retain enough water to put on a couple pounds before you start your period.

That's my normal. It fluctuates up to 5 lbs. of water weight and constipation. Once my period starts, though, those problems are quickly resolved.

Funny I came across this this morning. I jumped on the scale and was horrified to see that I have put on 2 lbs. I mean I get in about 4-600 calories a day (Im three weeks out) How is it possible to be gaining weight...then I realized what date it was and the fact that my rings which have been falling off of me where "fitting" this morning, I realized I was going to be starting any day now. I have been known to gain up to 5 lbs or so right around my period. I make sure to drink extra water around that time to help flush everything out.
