Puzzled

I just posted a couple of days ago about my food addiction/compulsion.  I explained how I've been eating and that I've been eating too frequently and exceeding my calorie count.  My abdomen is bloated, the scale was up 4 pounds last week.  I got on the scale this today and the gain was gone!  How can this be?  While I haven't technically tracked my food the last two weeks, I have mentally, and I know I've been exceeding my calorie count.  I've been working a lot, but that isn't physical work.  So, what gives?  I'm pleased that the scale is down, but very puzzled.

Weight can fluctuate for a myriad of reasons. It can be due to water retention, hormones, the actual food we eat, etc.

All Carbs are not created equal. I would definitely refrain from eating Refined Carbs. Eat Simple Carbs (dairy, fruit) and Complex Carbs (beans, vegetables, whole grains). I do not count daily Carb grams.

I eat 1800-2000 calories a day to maintain my weight loss of 200 pounds at a weight of 131 pounds. My height is 5'4".

I do not participate in a formal exercise program due to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. I do move around a lot more and do a lot more walking.

It defies our logic that I can enjoy so much good food and calories for my height. I believe part of the reason is I am a Lacto-Ovo Vegetarian. I eat a variety of beans, peas, low-fat dairy, eggs, whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

I also have never introduced a food into my mouth that I have not planned to eat. I always consider the protein and nutritional value of each morsel.

I know this rigid, controlled way of life is not for everyone, but it works great for me!

Maybe some of the four pounds last week was water retention, not really weight you'd gained?  I mean, I'd say it had to be, because it would be tough to really lose four pounds in one week, you know.

Are you still bloated?  Because maybe that was part of the four pounds.  Bloating might be related to the kind of food you're eating, not the number of calories.

What Kelly said.  After reasons dozens of posts here about people freaked out (usually people just a couple of months out) because they "gained" 3 or 4 pounds, when I knew I was retaining a lot of fluid, I purposely weighted myself  during and after... And found that there was SIX pounds in the excess water retention!

i realize that because of the food issues (sorry, I guess I missed your other post) that you are in a different situation, at leat mentally, but it sounds like you may have been retaining water or excess stool.
