how soon after surgery did you have steak?
I had steak, medium rare, at 2 months out. I was only able to eat a couple bites and I chewed it thoroughly. I find I have an easier time with soft steak than I do with chicken.

Don't try something new when you are out with friends. It is embarrassing for you and ruins the evening for them if it makes you sick. Stick to something that you know and wait a few months for steak out at a restaurant. I started with medium rare filet at four months out and could finish a four ounce filet by then. At two months, I don't think it would have stayed down.
I had steak during the puree stage I just put it in the ninja and mmm mmm good. I have been eating steak from get go. I will say I can NOT eat filet mignon though. At least I don't think I can. I've tried it 3 different times and got sick all 3 times. I swore not to try it again until my one year mark.
If you eat it well done and it's dry make sure you have something to slop it in so it doesn't get stuck. Otherwise just chew chew chew and take tiny bites! It will fill you up quickly I'm sure.
My plan says 3 months for steak, which is today! My hubbie and I Went to Outback Steakhouse this past Saturday and I tried 1 tiny bite of his steak and though I chewed well, it just didn't wanna mush up well. I just ate the lobster tail instead! That's an idea, fancy steakhouses usually have lobster if you like it
