Elevated Liver Enzymes Pre-Op
I am so afraid this can cancel my surgery. I won't get the new results until tomorrow and I am just freaking out. Also, my liver enzymes were just slightly raised a month before in February. Although much lower. I will copy n paste results for both months below.
My doctor did say its probably just due to obesity but I will still obese a month before these labs when it was nearly normal. Anyone have this happen? Am I panicking for no reason???

While I have never had my liver enzymes tested, on an ultrasound 2 months ago, they diagnosed me with fatty liver (quite common in "fluffy" people. :-) I used to work for a hepatologist and many patients that had elevated liver enzymes had fatty liver and the doc used to just tell the patients to lose 10% of their body weight.
I don't think your surgery would be cancelled if it is indeed fatty liver.
I see you've already lost some weight. Have you started the liquid diet yet, or low carb? When I was doing the liquid diet, I was told by my doc that it is normal for the liver enzymes to be high because losing weight shrinks the liver. They were normal before I started the diet, but during my entire 3 months of liquid/low carb diet (pre-surgical physician supervised diet plan required by my insurance), my labs showed elevated liver enzymes. Everyone in my group had the same occurrence. Your PCP probably is just being safe, and doesn't realize it is a normal occurrence when dropping pounds.

My PCP is actually an idiot for the most part. He kept telling me when he first walked in that I had a pulmonary embolus and doesn't understand why I stopped my blood thinners. I could barely get a word in!! Finally I got it though his head that I didn't have a pulmonary embolus but a blood clot under my knee (in December) and he approved me going off blood thinners at 3 months lol. And not to mention - many other occurrences where he has actually pulled out anatomy books because he was confused.
But it made me mad when he kept saying I had hepatitis. I knew I had not had a hepatitis test and that the levels checked were for my liver enzymes. Them being high could mean a multitude of things according to google!!! But he was insisting I had hepatitis although he doubted I had the infectious kind lol.
I have lost 32 -ish pounds and that makes me feel so much better if that's the reason. I should get the test results tomorrow and will definitely be letting you all know what the conclusion is.
Thanks for helping!!!
Can't wait to call my doctor and rub this in his face!!!!!
