Post Op Life....Not always easy!
I am posting this for the following folks:
PreOp and Newbies-After the WLS, Post Op life can be challenging!
Post Op w/ some time behind them: Words of Advice or Ass Kicking!
The Numbers:
346: All time high 7/1/10 - BMI = 52
326: Tufts Medical Center, Surgery 12/27/10 BMI=49
200: Weigh In 8/11/13
205: This Week 9/1/13 -->5 lb gain BMI=30
140:Total Weight Loss
Not good. Simply stated, I have not done any type of exercise and having not been mindfully eating over the last 2-3 weeks. Still, I know what to do: Start drinking 64oz of water DAILY; Log Food and keep calories to 1800 or less; and EXERCISE at least 5 times per week. Have to admit pretty bummed as I do not want to start down a slippery slope of regain, but still I need to keep in mind that this is a Marathon, not a journey!
Hope all of you are doing well on your journey!
Yours in WLS Journey,
Bill Mac

So my advice is drink WAY more than 64 oz a day. That is far too little, IMO. More than 1200 calories while losing was listed as a no no by my nutritionist. Don't just say 5 days of exercise. Say you are going to run 3 miles every other day, do weights every third day and so forth. I layer my exercise. For example, I do elliptical 6 days a week and then 4 days a week work towards my 5K goal and 5 days a week I do a mat class, either Pilates. Yoga or belly dancing.
If you use MFP, I am LALALA28115 and you can request me as a friend.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
I am a year out and have lost 131. I really need to start exercising. I am having a difficult time because I can eat more now and it seems like I am always hungry. So I am there with ya working on it!

Bill, it sounds like you're reaching out in the middle of a struggle and accountability really is the first step to change... You know what's gonna work for you, so work it! I'd encourage you to be getting AT LEAST 64oz daily - and more if you're out running!
