OT - saw dentist today

He was able to cement the crown back in place temporarily.  However, the root of the tooth that has the crown on it has fractured, which cannot be repaired.  If I want to continue to have a front tooth (and I do), I will need a bridge.  Which is expensive.  Blah.  And now my mouth is even more sore.  And I have to go back to the dentist Friday.  And have to stay on super soft food until then.

Aw, Kelly, I'm sorry! I know dental stuff sucks..... I know they're even more expensive but what about a dental implant? I have one on a back molar, and while it took me FOREVER to pay off, at least it didn't involve destroying healthy teeth around it to do a bridge....

They can do an implant... but the cost for a bridge would be about $2000 while the implant would be about $4000.

Yeah, mine cost about $5k. Dental work is crazy-expensive, but I wouldn't want a career putting my hands in peoples' mouths either, so more power to those dentists....

On top of it, if you went with the route of doing an implant, you run the risk of your body rejecting the screw they put in your gums. Yikes! Not for $4000 for ONE tooth!!

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.

And dental insurance doesn't even begin to touch the bill!  I had a root canal and a crown......WITH INSURANCE and it cost me $1k out of pocket...........and I have "good insurance".

Yuck.
