How far along were you when you could eat a chopped salad?  I am only 3 weeks post op so I realize it might be awhile but this is all I can think about!  I've never craved salad so much in my life!

About eight weeks out, for me.  When is salad on your doc's plan?

It's not shown specifically on the plan. I think I have about 5-6 weeks until I can start experimenting with "real" foods. Just thought I'd get a feel for those that have had success with salads.

My friend was told no salad ever because it fills up the stomach but I too could go for a chopped spinach salad.

But I thought we WANT to fill our stomach so we're not hungry...? Besides, if you have some protein in your salad I think it sounds like a good thing.

I have been eating salad since I was about 8-10 weeks post surgery.  Salad is one of the easiest things for me to eat--the way I understand it, the salad, when chewed well is essentially water and goes through me quickly.  I try to have a salad every day and I feel best when I have one.

I know what you mean-- I too craved salad from the early days post surgery.  Talk to your nutritionist--I find that mine is my lifesaver.

I was  allowed salad last week, at my 5-month  visit. I was dying for salad, lol.

For at least the first year, you should think of salad as a side and not the main component of a meal - ie, the protein is the star at EVERY meal!

I eat salad regularly, but it ALWAYS has a chicken breast or ham steak or some form of protein, which I eat first ...   I don't do croutons or bacon bits etc and beware, dressed salads at restaurants are often the HIGHEST in calories of all their meals - it is not always the best choice nutritionally if you haven't made it!

I use an old Weigh****chers trick - I ALWAYS get my dressing on the side, then I just dip my fork into it then stab the salad - you use hardly any but still gets the taste. I've done this for years and years. Guilt-free salad eating!

I was allowed all green leafy veggie on day 8 not that I could eat much if any when eating protein first.

I love over salads and eat them fairly often Being sure to load it with protein (usually chicken, cheese and boiled egg). I eat very little salad dressing.
