Surgery Tomorrow- STARVING (were you hungry right after surgery)?

I'm 18 days after surgery and I do not get hungry at all.  I was very thirsty after surgery and was one of the lucky ones - I don't have trouble at all drinking as long as I'm careful about the size of the swallow (keep it small!) and that I don't get air trapped.

That night after surgery, they brought me the clear liquid tray and I drank about 1/3 of the broth and had two spoonfuls of the jello and just didn't want any more.

I still do not get hungry, but I can feel a little hollow when I am at or past the time for my next snack or meal.  My innards start making little gurgles like they've run out of stuff to play with!  LOL

I had a bit of jello the night before on my liquid diet (jello counts as liquid) and I put some protein powder in it...did your doc give you handwritten pre-op instructions?  It's not good to go 24 hours with no fluid, especially before surgery. What time do you stop eating? Midnight? ten?

No I am on a liquid diet today and have to stop drinking in 20 minutes midnight. The no fluids for 24 hours is post surgery. The information was in all the folders and stuff they gave me.

No I was starving as well, But After I was soo medicated I just wanted sleep. Also Hubby came in with subway and just looking at the bad made my stomach turn he had to eat in the lobby for 2 days lol . I didnt eat for 10days Nothing just drank and I didnt get the feeling of hunger for another 2 weeks after that .

I had normal hunger.  I lost enough weight pre-op that I didn't have a special diet pre-op. Good luck.  I know that pre-op didn't mean a whole lot.  Post op?  All of your choices have consequences.
