Weight Gain After 6 Years

I have gained 50lbs in the last year. I didn't have to work at losing after surgery so I am devastated! I have no clothes that fit and I am so ashamed for people I know to see me. I always knew it could happen. I'm just disgusted with myself.

You know how to fix this.

Get back to basics.  Buy supplies and start with protein powders.  Get your vitamins in order.  Cook and freeze.  Go for walks.  Drink 64oz of fluids minimum.  No mindless chowing down.  Keep all crap food out of the house - no one needs it anyway.  Take food with you to work.  Do something else whenever you feel the need to eat.  Remember that the first week is gonna be a ***** - you just have to power through it.

Remember - it didn't "happen" - and not to be mean - but you LET it happen AND you can make it un-happen.  Let your 'disgust' be your weapon to beat this beast back into the hole from whence it was released!

Except for protein powders - nobody 6 years out needs to be drinking protein shakes!!!    DENSE PROTEIN!!!!!

Oops!  Somehow my brain passed over the word "powders"!  How the hell did that happen?!?  I am usually on the lookout for the "go back to shakes" advice!!

To the OP, definitely do NOT go back to protein powders.  Go back to solid dense protein and very limited amounts of everything else.

Good stuff queen :)

Meh, life happens. Lucky you, you have RNY on your side and you can tap into that tool anytime.

Try the pouch test thing everyone raves about and quickstart that metabolism again. No use beating yourself over yesterday. Make today and tomorrow better and you will be fine.

Not everyone raves about the pouch test thing.  It's a fad diet for WLS folks and many of us feel pretty strongly about not doing fad diets anymore.  It doesn't do anything for your metabolism.

I think the majority of the vets here who ave successfully maintained their weight loss actually are very much against the 5DPT.

It is a fad diet which, as Kelly said, does nothing for your metabolism,  It also doesn't reset anything (people could accomplish the same thing with going back to eating nothing but protein in very small portions for several days), and actually reinforces the old diet-deprivation-regain cycle that failed all of us for so many years.  Going back to basics, on the other hand, will reinforce the healthy eating we need to keep for life if we want to keep our weight under control.
