She Shoots! She Scores!! (At Goal--with Pics!)

Well, it took me 53 weeks to the day, but I got there--down 112 lbs. to goal.

I started this journey at 237 pounds, with a BMI of 40.7.  I was wearing a rather tight size 20.  My measurements were:

Bust - 45"

Waist - 45"

Hips - 47.5"

Bicep - 14"

Thigh - 25.5"

These days, I tip the scale at 125 lbs with a BMI of 21.5.  I wear a size 0 or size 2.  My measurements are:

Bust - 32"

Waist - 26.5"

Hips - 33.5"

Bicep - 9.5"

Thigh - 17.5"

My current goals (thank you My Fitness Pal!) are: 1,400 calories, carbs - 140g, fat - 47g, protein - 105g, sodium - 2,300mg, sugar - 45g.  I work out four to six times a week--three personal training sessions/one to three yoga classes.  I also walk one to two miles on Friday and Saturday (my weekend) when I walk my dog.

I love my life post-surgery.  I love crossing my legs, having room when I fly Economy Class, walking in to a store and knowing I'll find something that fits and looks nice.  I adore how strong I am, how much more confident I am, the way I feel almost...graceful.  I still trip and stumble and have a terrible time with balance poses during yoga class.  But I also don't feel like a wall of flesh, like someone who is too big for a room and will knock things over if I'm not careful with my hips.

Before surgery, my energy was low.  I didn't sleep particularly well, lived with chronic lower back pain and discovered during my pre-op tests that I was pre-diabetic.  Now, I wake up every morning at 5:00am, my back is strong enough to deadlift 110 lbs. and my blood sugar is totally normal.  I'm happy as can be.  And here is the proof:

Much better than this, wouldn't you say?

Great for you!

“Let someone love you just the way you are – as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. To believe that you must hide all the parts of you that are broken, out of fear that someone else is incapable of loving what is less than perfect, is to believe that sunlight is incapable of entering a broken window and illuminating a dark room.”― Marc Hack

HOLY CRAP!  You look amazing!  And so tiny!!!  Congratulations and great job - you are obviously working really hard to get where you are today and it shows.  Do you even have any loose skin? You look like you have none!  What an inspiration.  I randomly set a goal and have no idea where I will end up but a size 0 or 2 has not crossed my mind!  You have done a great job!

Thank you so much!  :-D

I definitely have loose skin.  When I go home in May, I have a bunch of surgical consults set up.  I'd like to have my plastics work done in December, when I would normally come home for the holidays.

My original size goal was Size 8 because a gazillion years ago, I was able to squeeze myself into a size 8 pair of jeans (for a couple of days at least).  That moment was the skinniest I'd ever been as an adult.  At that point, I was about five pounds more than I weigh now.

This whole Size 0 or Size 2 thing is only possible because of vanity sizing.  I'd bet I'd be a size 6 or 8 if this was a generation ago.  Not that I'm complaining!  I'm very happy with how things have turned out.

Thanks for the kind words.
