Just curious on why did you all choose the RNY instead of the Gastric Sleeve?

I am leaning on the RNY but wondering if I should have the sleeve instead. Just curious on why you chose the

RNY for "your" surgery? I hope to have my surgery in two months.

Thanks!

My surgeon recommended RNY due to my comorbidities-diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol (all resolved).

I had terrible acid reflux and surgeon said RNY was the only way to go for patients with acid reflux.

I had a revision from VBG to RNY because that was my only option but I am a sugar holic and it will curb my intake. Like others I also have GERD and it is supposed to help that too.

Because my insurance wouldn't cover the sleeve back then.

1) RNY has a reputation to put blood sugar issues into remission  2) RNY is considered the gold standard in WLS  3) my surgeon has more experience performing the RNY  4) remnant stomach is left in with the RNY  5) insurance was more apt to cover my RNY

I had comorbidities I wanted to address and wanted both restriction and malabsorption. I felt that RNY gave me my best chances long term weight loss of the options available to me (RNY, sleeve, band).
