Good Day Everyone! I had my first appt w/my surgeon today and it was informative and overall great interivew. She explained in detailed why "she" would not perform the sleeve on me due to my severe GERD, and other related gastric problems. She suggested the RNY and went over the surgery. All in all I'm happy to be with her bariactric team. Also her team gave me a checkoff sheet at initial consult with all the insurance requirements for me to get approval and I've already done most of it. Surgeon said I will get a date for surgery during my 3rd visit in mid November.

I'm on my road to a healthy lifestyle and looking forward to it!

Good luck to all going through this process.

Thank you Liser617. I pay good attention to the posting on this site because there is such an enormous wealth of info regarding WLS here!! So when I have my appts I'm prepared.

You said it! I spend hours here reading posts because everyone has something to add to the WLS info I'm learning.

Glad things went so well with the surgeon. Looks like you have a good surgeon's office giving you a checklist day 1. Mine did that as well, and I am grateful they were so straightforward. Good Luck!

Hi, sounds like your right on track at the beginning of your journey. My Dr also did not think I was a good fit for the sleeve, same as yours (gerd).  The check list was a blessing for me to see where I was in the process.  Best of luck to you

I was frustrated to find out insurance required a six-month process before my WLS.  It turned out to be a blessing---- a chance to do everything from researching pre/post-op requirements, attending support group, to jumpstarting weight loss and fitness.  Enjoy the ride on your road to a better life.
