3 days in hospital without the internet grr. Really happy to be home. No real pain at all. The NG tube was miserable but gone now never to be repeated.

One thing that has been totally different from the sleeve is never trust RYN fart.

Leisa,

Glad your home. Did you have problems. I have not heard of anyone on here being in the hospital 3 days and NG tubes. Wow. Hope your feeling better now.

I am one week out of surgery was in hospital 3 days as well. I didn't have any complications, just abdominal pain due to gas/pressure that I couldn't release. There were a few others on the floor from Monday bariatric surgery like me and they were mostly leaving same day as me too. They said nowadays hospitals/insurance companies put a huge emphasis on rate of return, so they always lean towards the side of caution. I also had a CT scan the morning of discharge to make sure all was well also.

I had that god awful stuff that you sallow, it was so hard on day 1 day to get that much of the foul stuff down and then x-ray and ct.

I really think the health insurance companies are adding pressure for good outcomes.

Thanks for your warm reply. I did not have anything with the VSG no drains, no ng tube, this was a different surgeon of course.

I had no problems at all and have lost 3kg which I think would be around 6 or 7 pounds yay.

I think she might be from Australia?! Every doctor is different even in the US so I am sure the same is true everywhere. I think I remember reading other international folks said they had a feeding tube in case they had a problem with liquids. Here in the US some docs use drains and catheters and all the eating stages are different too. My doctor doesn't use catheters or drains and I was only in the hospital overnight. Just be confident in your doc and follow whatever his plan is for success. I'll be praying for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for you tomorrow. And an amazing weight loss journey too!

The NG tube was not for feeding just removing extra stomach content they sucked out every 4 hours not very pleasant and never again.

I had an NG tube too for the first day and a half. It took me a while to catch on, but pretty much everything I swallowed ended up going back up that tube and draining somewhere thankfully behind me that I couldn't see.
