Caeser Salad. Yes or No?

Hello fellow R N Y's I am 2 1/2 months out and dying to try salad. Should I try it or should I wait a bit longer?

Check with your centres plan, the dressing may not sit well this early out. I didn't eat lettuce for many months list op, rarely do now either.

First, follow your plan.  Second, a traditional caesar salad isn't a terribly healthy or nutritious choice.

You might want to wait a little longer for lettuce. It can be hard to digest. When you do have one perhaps pick a healthier one or one you make yourself. I often have salads I add chicken to but very little dressing.

Most salads in restaurants are loaded with calories which at this point in your journey is not a good idea

I am a long time vet and yes I can eat salad BUT my pouch is still small and to remain at goal and healthy I still do my protein first.

If you have a craving for Caesar salad and you can handle the lettuce there is a brand of Greek yogurt based dressings that have no fat and only 45 calories for two tablespoons which if a huge amount of dressing. It's called boathouse and doesn't have any artificial sweeteners or preservatives in it either and here's the awesome part it actually tastes amazing. Well worth the four dollars a bottle I pay for it.

I started eating salad at 6-8 weeks according to my plan. I would say it started agreeing with me after 3 months. I am surprised at how much salad I can eat, I guess because it looks like more in the bowl than when it's actually chewed and in your stomach. :) I find it easier to eat it as a snack sometimes with just a some shredded cheese on it for a little protein. It is hard to eat much when I am having more protein. It is one of my go to choices at restaurants, small dinner salad with added chicken or small dinner greek salad. At least there aren't any surprises and I enjoy it.

I eat salad as a snack .  This time of year I am so excited to eat deers tongue , baby greens , ache , arugula...and herbs .  I also love to slice in the perpetual green onions that taste like chives now but get too hot to eat raw later . 

My reference is to eat the salad with fat free feta and fat free blue cheese dressing - though occasionally I will eat a caesar lite salad set from the grocery store which my boyfriend used to love .

I would say wait a little longer but do not give up hope for healthy salads! I was able to start having healthy salads around 7 months and my pouch is VERY sensitive.  I ALWAYS eat my protein first. I am OBSESSED with the Skinny Girl line of salad dressings. They taste great..low in calories, low fat, low carb, no sugar. Hang in there!!
