Of course it's okay. I hate margarine. I'm a salted butter fan.

Margarine is never ok for anyone. That stuff is full of transfat. Butter is ok, but is is really high in calories and has zero protein. For that reason, I rarely eat it. If you must have butter, make sure you measure and keep track of it in your food diary. Butter is one of those things that could easily derail your weight loss because you can literally eat it all day. It is not going to make you full, and the calories add up really fast. It is really just empty calories.

Margarine is ****  Butter all the way.

And while we are at it, fat is not the enemy (unless you have certain gall bladder issues).  If fat was the enemy, I would be stick-thin thanks to all the low-fat diets I tried over the years.  I eat plenty of healthy fats and do just fine... calories and carbs are the enemy.  But YMMV,

There is more than just one enemy.  Added sugars, added fats, and highly processed foods are all enemies because they're all highly concentrated sources of calories with little-to-no nutritional value.

Butter! As long as you don't overdo it. Margerine has so many additives in it that it can be harmful to your body. Did you know margerine has plastic in it? Look it up. Crazy all the crap they put in it.

Is either okay?  Neither one is a health food.  Both are concentrated sources of calories.

Margarine is crap. Just a waste.

A pat of butter on something is fine. A stick of butter on a bowl of popcorn is not. If the first will turn into the second, stay away.

Butter is always a better choice. Margarine is a byproduct of petroleum. We heat our houses with it. I surely wouldn't want to eat it.
