Headaches

I know I can only take Tylenol for pain and I have read on here to try Biofreeze for my back and knees (which I have ordered from Amazon and I'm waiting on delivery), but I have been getting pretty bad headaches lately....any tips on those?

For me, the only thing that Tylenol actually works for is headaches.  If the headaches are new, unusual, persistent and unusually severe, I would recommend seeing a physician.  It may, or may not, be an indication of something else going on.

Thanks for your reply.  I don't really think they are any worse than before surgery, but before surgery I took Exedrine and that got rid of them :(

I was having horrid headaches. I suffer from migraines so I can take an additional rescue med if needed but Tylenol seems to help me.

Thanks, I have had migraines in the past too, so I guess I need to talk to my PCP to see what I can take when they get bad.

Oh I am so sorry that you are suffering from headaches, absolutely brutal. I used to suffer from terrible migraines until I figured out I had food allergies (potatoes of all things!!!!) and now I only get a menstrual headache or when bad rainy weather is on the horizon, usually an extra strength Tylenol can help.

Make sure you are not dehydrated as a possible reason for the headaches.   When I was first post op I did get dehydrated and I did get bad headaches, we really need a lot of liquids and I mean a lot.

Hope you not having a reaction to artificial sweeteners, a lot of our vitamins & protein shakes contain artificial sweeteners and a lot of people can't tolerate them, did you use Splenda type sweeteners pre surgery?

Hope you find some relief soon, being in pain sucks, feel better!

Thank you for your reply, I will have to recheck all these things, I am finally getting plenty of water in, I am at about 80 oz now.  I have never been one to use artificial sweeteners.  I hate the taste.  The only artificial sweetener I use now is whatever is in my protein shake.  Unfortunately I don't think I can avoid that until I can get in enough protein from my food.  It is something I am striving for !  :)

There was an earlier post on this board called:  Caution: citrate supplements & migraines (See page 3).  I am going to try switching from Calcium Citrate to Calcium Carbonate and see if that helps my migraines and daily headaches.  Also, I can't take Tylenol due to Liver problems, but I did get a prescription for Tramadol for pain.  I also take Amerge as needed for migraines.  It is an excellent migraine medicine.

You do realize that we don't absorb calcium carbonate.

I thought we could still absorb it, just that we had to take more of it since it wasn't as easily absorbed as citrate.
