Hi all, looking forward to moving up to pureed foods this week. After 4 weeks of liquids (2 weeks pre op, 2 weeks post op), I'm so ready for solid food! What were some of your favorites? What didn't sit so well? Hope you all have a happy Halloween!

Congratulations!

My purée phase consisted of thicker soups like black bean, lentil and cauliflower cheddar. My program also included scrambled eggs at that phase. Also, yogurt and cottage cheese.

good luck!

Yes, craving yogurt! Did you puree the scrambled eggs after they were cooked? Did you puree the cottage cheese? I could jazz it up with some spices, that would be good.

No, I didn't purée eggs or cottage cheese. The eggs I just scrambled with milk so they were on the moist side. Also, I was pretty conservative when trying a new food. 1-2 tablespoons only. Then see how I'd react. Good luck!

Hope the transition is smooth and everything you try sits well but don't despair if it doesn't... sometimes we just need a little more time with some things... eggs were one with me... unless I made a cheese sauce to help them along they sat heavy... a few weeks later no problem.

Ricotta Bake was the one food that made me feel "normal" again (basically lasagna without the noodles) http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2007/08/puree d-foods.html

I remember just wanting to chew again LOL :)

Best to you in your WLS journey,

~Shelly

Shelly, one of the gals in my support group recommended your blog when I was pre op and it is FABULOUS! So many wonderful and creative ideas! Hubby and I both follow you on Facebook too. Several of your recipes/ideas are on my list for this week! Thanks so much for all the work you put into your blog and congrats on your successful journey!

Your ricotta bake is the BOMB! I felt like a real person getting to eat that!

Also, I ate lots of hummus (with a spoon), cottage cheese, black beans in a ramekin layered with salsa and cheese was great too! I couldn't' do eggs for a while (and even now, I can't eat much of them).

Old El Paso's fat free vegetarian refried beans were my absolute favorite. I'd add fat-free cheese on top and it was so warming and comforting for me. I also loved the Amy's brand lentil soups pureed. They had a lot of good flavor and protein. I used the Quest flavorless protein powder in the soups to add more protein as well.

Thanks for the ideas. Have added refried beans, different flavors, drool. Adding protein powder to the soups is a good idea. I was straining Amy's Thai chicken soup while on liquids and loved the exotic flavor.
