Crack slaw

Hey all!

I have found a recipe for crack slaw that uses ground beef. I have purchased the ginger and coleslaw mix.

Is there anything extra (beyond garlic, onion, soy sauce, siracha, and sesame seeds) that you add to make it extra special/ unique/tasty?

I like mine spicy, so I add Mongolian Fire Oil.

I might buy some or see if the Asian grocery store down the road has some!

I usually just get it at Safeway, so hopefully you can find some easily. I use it a LOT!

I really enjoy the food giving "sensations" in addition to being "well seasoned" (aka flavorful).

Some people ask "Is it spicy?" Of a server knowing that it has a lot of seasonings in it to make it tasty will answer "yes".

Often a customer will ask "Is it hot". The server knowing it is served at an elevated temperature will answer yes (even though the food may be bland).

What the customer should have asked is "is this an oral irritant? For example, jalepeno pepper?"

I wonder how many people have missed a new potential favorite because they didnt ask the question in a manner that could be understood.

My MIL cannot handle spicy flavors at all. Mild salsa is far too much for her! She's learned to ask about specific ingredients, especially when she visits and we go out for Mexican food. "Does it have any peppers in it?" is usually a pretty safe way to phrase things.

Unless they have a good vocabulary and hear it "aural irritant" and are wondering why you'd want to stick it in your ears...

Not sure what your recipe calls for, but if it doesn't include some sesame oil, definitely add it! That's the one thing my recipe was missing and it makes all the difference! (Unless, of course, you're ketogenic, in which case forget the sesame oil it's non-keto lol)

What do you mean sesame oil is non-keto? I try to eat keto/paleo/low carb. Sesame oil is my favorite thing. Please explain!

Oh, sorry...I guess it depends on what keto doctrine you follow. The one I follow is not only low carb high fat, but includes a whole food view, and one factor is whether or not a food is inflammatory. Sesame oil has a high Omega-6 count and should be used very sparingly, if at all. The doctrine I follow says no sesame oil.
