Any one swiched from lap-band to sleeve after initial approval

I was recently approved through United Health Care to have to lap band. I have been doing my research and I am quite sure that the sleeve is best for me.
I was wondering will I have to be re-approved and if so how long will it take before I get the second approval.

 If I were you I would call my surgeon and tell them of your decision on changing surgeries.   It may only be for them to re-submit a different surgery code to the insurance.    Make sure that United Health Care pays for the sleeve though.    It has only been approved by insurance co. for about a year now and to what I have heard not everyone is covering it.   Good luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers for a quick and speedy approval and date.

I did exactly that! Approved for the lapband then changed my mind. They just have to resubmit the paperwork, didn't take too long at all for me, best decision ever!!! Lovin my sleeve, I am 3 weeks out!

I have seen alot of revisions from the band to the sleeve. If you know the sleeve is right for you then make sure you get that all straightrened out with your doc. It's worth the wait.

I went through my pre op supervised diet and got approval for lap band. Then I met my surgeon and I decided to do the Sleeve instead. They resubmitted my papers to my insurance (Geisinger Health Plan) and within a few days they called to tell me that I was approved! Good luck!
