I approved for the Sleeve

I so excited and scared. OH has been the best thing that coud have happened to me and has really helped me alot through the first stages. I don't have a sugery date yet but that's all that 's left.
Does everyone getting the sleeve have to go on the pre op diet?

Congrats - I was approved today too! Not everyone has to do the pre-op diet (I've seen many on here that haven't) but I will be on the 2 week liquid diet!

Congratulations!!

I did not have to do any pre-op dieting, because I'm a light weight, but surgeon still wanted me to drop a couple pounds. I lost about 10 pounds before surgery (over about 5 months). Don't know how big you are, but the pre-op diet helps shrink your liver, making it easier to operate with less chance of problems. My doc only required no food 24 hours before surgery.

I lost 12 pounds between the first dr visit and getting my date, but the doc said my scans looked good, so I didn't need to do a pre-surgery diet, just stay sane. Three more days!

It is so great that you got approved. What a wonderful feeling!!!

I also did not have to do a pre-op liquid diet. However, I did do my own high protein-low carb pre-op diet. Figured I'd shrink the liver just to be on the safe side. I think I lost about 7 pounds before surgery. Every little bit helps.
