10 weeks out and I ate 5 ounces of steak with veggies just fine

Ya'll aren't gonna believe it, but I am about 10 weeks post op and I was able to eat approximately 5 oz of steak topped with asiago cheese and a serving of steamed veggies without becoming overfull. Amazing, huh. I can't explain it, I think I just have a very adaptive type body and I am a fast healer like my Dad. Yeah, I can already often eat 6 oz at a setting. However, last night, an ounce of cheese and 1.5 oz beef jerky filled me up. The sleeve, or at least mine, is a very strange creature (but I still like it).

WOW!!  I find that really hard to believe, and I think I would be a little worried.  I'm almost a year out and can still barely eat 2 oz of really dense meat, like steak.  In fact I got a 9 oz steak from Applebees specifically because I wanted it to last 3 meals and it did, with my daughter mooching a couple pieces off of me.  Anyway, not really sure what to think.

I eat exactly like the original OP.  I can actually do more and really have to watch it now
because I know I can.

2 oz...  at a year out???   wow....  I wish I wish.....i could do that.

my doctor says for me to eat a cup to a cup and a half of food which goes all against
what I read here.  That is why I am so confused..  but I can eat anything now.
its all up to my choices now and I soooo miss the restriction in the beginning after surgery.
yep discipline here.   My doctor wants me to eat 3 meals a day and get my protein in from foods.
I do a combo of both depending how I feel in a day.

Some of us have bigger sleeves than others.   Each surgeon has their own idea about how to make them.  Most people are gonna tell yu just because you can doesn't mean you should.  I have a bigger sleeve and i struggle to not eat as much as i could :o(  jeani

Sometimes. Just depends on the day. As far as some people losing their appetite/interest in food, that definitely did not happen. I still think about food and look foward to my meals.

I hope everyone noticed in my first response i said " most people will tell you just because you can doesn't mean you should"  notice i didn't say i was telling her that.   I have always been able to eat more than others, I never got sick,  never threw up,  did get the slimey's one time about maybe 3 weeks out,  i've had no problems ever........ i have always said i have a bigger sleeve,  i eat probably about a normal portion for avarage person,  i eat way less than i used to,  i'm healthy and feel great,  i struggle with head hunger i never did before because i was always eating something  lol   so my weight loss has been slow but i've lost 78 out of the 90 i want to lose in just about a year.  I just didn't want to start a big debate but maybe someone needs to hear this?  who knows.  So i confess,  i eat too much,  but i make much healthier choices most of the time.   I'm very proud of myself  and this is a journey,  I have my health and that is why i did this    and i'm not done yet,     so i hope we all find what we are searching for on this path

I know i would have lost it faster if i were strickter with my diet and exercise but my skin isn't too bad,  and my hair still looks good altho a little thinner  :o) jeani

Jeani,
I am like you...I have a bigger sleeve too I am finding.  Also struggling not to eat too much.
I know my max limit on the days where I do eat more and try not to go there.

Nope, sleeve is not big. It's a 36fr sewn to a 34. I've never eaten to the point of vomiting before. If i don't eat to some point of fullness, then I'm not gonna be full, and I'm gonna be hungry again in a half hour. Sometimes I just weight food and eat that certain weight only and if I only go by that I get hungry again pretty fast, so sometimes I let the sleeve dictate. Like I said, I think my body is just fast at healing/adapting, but I agree it's 5oz of dense protein, not just anything, so I guess it is a little concerning. Maybe I should get it checked out at my 3 month appt with my PCP. I'm still losing good though because I ate way more before and I also keep a strict record of my calories and exercise 5 days a week.
