I am 6 weeks post op and am having this done tomorrow.  Things are still getting stuck for me... Has anyone else had this?  What was it like? Did it hurt?  Did it help?

thanks!

Laura,

I had an Endoscopy and it was fine. You're on the table, they ask you to count backwards and then you wake up in recovery. In 30 minutes I was up and out and feeling great.

Good luck tomorrow.

Yes after nearly 7 weeks being unable to get food through and throwing up since surgery had dilatation via EDG (tube down throat, esophagus to tummy).

They hook you up to an IV, then once in procedure room and doc is ready they give you RX Versed and Fetanyl..for "twilight sleep"

It does not take very long but you may feel sight discomfort when you swallow and will have to stick to a full liquid diet for a day or two. Its made a HUGE difference and glad it was done. Had a 2nd EDG yesterday, 3 weeks later from 1st and everything looks fine to surgeon so he did not have to dilate.

Good luck. YOu need a driver as you will be drowsy. OH.. and if the doc/nurse talks to you after this procedure tell whomever is with you, you may not remember. That 'amnesia" takes awhile to wear off.

My sister just told me, I kept repeating myself. LOL

I am going for nymber 3 on the 18th. It doesnt hurt and my doc puts me totally out in 30 minutes you will be back in your car. My doc sayas some people need 10 dilations. he wants me to keep trying until I feel I cant and then they may opt for another surgery but the dilations have made a big diffrence in my life.
