Howdy all! I'll be staying in the French Quarter a couple of nights the week of Christmas. I will be cleared to have "any" food by then, assuming it sits well and of course, in tiny amounts! I need some suggestions for sleeve friendly food and drink. I'm very hesitant to have too much spicy stuff, not being able to wa**** down and all. Also any suggestions for things to see/do near Bourbon street, or heck, anywhere in town for that matter! We'll have a car.

Deanie's seafood is awesome. Its well priced and you get alot of food. I suggest that you share the seafood platter. My husband and I shared one before my sleeve and still couldn't eat it all. Besides that I cant help to much. I'm not a fan of New Orleans! Sorry

Gotcha, will look into it! I'm taking my human garbage disposal aka my boyfriend, so he won't mind the large portion!

We were just there in August. I have to say there is no bad food in NOLA. We went to Mr. B's the one night for dinner and it was marvelous. Of course, there is Cafe Du Monde! They have the best begneits (SP?). It is worth a bite of one. If you like coffee try the coffee with milk. It is roasted with hickory. We only had one day so we didn't see much when we were there because it was also 97 degrees.

Mmm, I've always wanted to try one of those doughy awesomeness things. A bite will do me well-- I want to be able to sample a little of everything, so I'm totally okay with letting go at a nibble! LOL

There is so much to see and do.  Yes, lots of rich food, but also lots of great seafood.  Yes, share a meal.  Don't get the spicy stuff.  I had the best big giant shrimp there!  Cafe Dumond was not good for me.  I had a whole begnet.  You just want a bite but the experience is great.  You don't even need a car.  Take the street car all over too.    There's a casino, great night life entertainment and people watching too.  The WWII museum was awesome.  You will have a great time.

Just stay away from the sweet alcoholic beverages.

Thank you for the ideas! I was told they have "drive thru daquiri" shops, which made me laugh out loud at the absurdity of that. Was going to try a sip of somebody's, but if you say it's bad news, I'm all for sitting that out! I do miss my booze but this is too early, I know.

Pat O'Brian's is must after dark.  The back patio is beautiful.  There is a restaurant attached but we really didn't go for the food (It's NOLA after all)  I love walking that area and there is a meat or seafood dish on every menu that would work for you.  Emeril Lagasse's restaurant is awesome but expensive, great steak.  They like to say the traditional food is spicy but not hot.  It's one of my favorite cities and I would love to see it at Christmas time!  I'm so excited for you!  Go to the Cafe Du Monde the walk off the carbs.  The begniet are worth it!!
