concerned! please help

 i am looking at getting vsg done with a dr almanza in mexico-i have seen some very scarey posts concerning his validity as a surgeon, and also about the overall results-can anyone please help.... surgery scheduled for feb 2012

From everything I have read, avoid Almanza. Aceves and Alvarez get rave reviews and seem to be better options. Look into whoever you choose with a fine tooth comb (applies to all surgeons, not just Mexico).

It sounds like you are having enough doubts to warrant postponing the surgery until you investigate further. Don't risk it.

Can I ask why him over one of the other Mexico surgeons with a better reputaion ?

 Do your research, very carefully.  I have read some VERY frightenng posts about the surgical experiences people have had there as well as about the aftercare.  I was blessed to have a top notch team here in the states, and insurance coverage.  

if I had to do a self pay and consider Mexico I dont know if I would have done it after reading the experiences of others.  

Just do your research. Look into Dr. Kelly also.
For the price difference it is worth it you are in a real hosp. not a clinic.

I would agree with the other posters here. Take your time and do some extra research since you are traveling for the surgery.
