Hello, I am curious if anyone has had any children after having VSG? If so, What effects did it have on you? Any complications? Were you able to go back to your WLS plan/routine after the birth? What was your experience? I'm 33 yrs old and have one daughter, just want to look into future possibilities. Thanks!

VSG on 02/24/12
Hi I am planning on 1 more child after my VSG (happing soon!) and I have taken care of many patients who have had some type of WLS and with good prenatal care they do just fine.  You should, of course, consult your doctor first, they reccommend you wait a certain amount of time after surgery before you get pregnant, my doc said 18 months, but it is definitley doable!

I got pregnant 11mo after my VSG. I had maintained a weight of 145 for 3 months and I thought I was finished loosing.

I wasnt gaining enough weight to keep my doc happy so he had me carb load. I got pregnant at 150 and delivered at 185. I breastfed (still eating badly) and went down to 160. I got pregnant while still breastfeeding, and 15mo post partum. I went up to 208 this time. I breastfed for 6mo and now I'm 175. I'm trying to get the weight off, and I've went back to my wls (diet) I feel so much better eating this way and drinking my water. I just need to loose 30-40 pounds and I'll be happy

Oh hell no. The one my wife and I had before my VSG was a pain in the butt to raise.
