When can we start exercising?
As you are only a week out, I would definitely take it easy for a while. My doctor wanted me to wait at least 2-3 weeks before using a treadmill or elliptical. The first three weeks I pretty much just walked my neighborhood and then progressed to the treadmill at week 4 and then after a month went to the elliptical. Any kind of stomach exercises had to wait until six weeks. Take the time you have now to heal, you will have alot of time to work out and right now the most important things is letting everything heal and heal properly. Whatever you do, be careful and stop immediately if something doesn't feel right!

hey Sara,
yeah!!! glad to hear you are feeling so well!!
i had my surgery same day and i am feeling great too!
protein 50-60 per day, water 64 oz per day, cal. around 300 per day. i am walking all the time too.
my doc told me to take it easy for first 4 weeks, lots of walking and activity but no bike/eliptical yet. and i agree with specialone, he said most important - no lifting.

One week and a day out of surgery I started the treadmill, now I only mad it 8 mins, but slowly worked my way up. My doctor said it was allright as long as I took it very slow.
So far so good just over 3 months out, about 88 lbs down and going to the gym 5 to 6 days aweek, and I work Midnight to 8am shiftwork.
