I never really really watched before and i dont even like to cook n stuff, ive always been a snack/fast food fanatic; but now i keep watching all these food shows, imagining how good they r! Its like im satisfying my desire to eat through watching...its like i cant wait to eat again and indulge and its kinda scaring me! :(

Stay away from the televsion, lol, it's a mean thing.  I felt the same way after surgery but now, I don't even care about eating.  I know eat to live not live to eat.  Sorry to say, but you will never ben able to indulge in food like before surgery and that is a good thing and do you really want to?  Your new tummy will definitely stop you and that's why we did this in the end.  From now on, stick to the fitness channel and get inspired to move and get healthy.  Good luck to you!

That's too funny. For the first 2 months that's exactly what I watched, even though I had seen them before. The obsessiveness does go away. Now most, not all, food shows turn me off.

Yea, if I were you I'd be scared, too! Do you have a nutritionist and psychologist you can talk to about these behaviors? Sorry but it doesnt sound very healthy, you're torturing yourself, girl! :)

I didnt exactly avoid food visuals once I was sleeved and home but I definitely didn't go looking for them. Set yourself UP to succeed by getting into healthier habits. Maybe change the channel to a workout video or something motivationla. Man Vs. Food is HEAVY!

Also, your eating habits are going to change drastically on this journey. Right now you're on liquids - easy to put something together - but once you get into the mushie stage and beyond, unless you have a personal chef SOME amount of food handling/preparation is required. I ask again, do you have a support program through your surgeon, like a nutritionist, who guides you on lean proteins and such?

Since my surgery, I went through a drive-thru once, and that was a small chili at Wendy's that I took home to blend in my mushie stage. That's it. I've saved so much $$ on food because I buy it, divide it, freeze it, etc. I know everything that is going into the food I eat because I made it at home. I would recommend getting a WLS cook book, there are many out there right now. Some recipes are simple, some a little harder, but they are all healthy and delicious so you won't get bored.
Your sleeve is JUST A TOOL. It's all up to YOU! good luck :)

Ha! I have been watching the Food Network too! I like it. But when I get into it too much and thinking about the food too much I shut it off. But I like to call it Food Porn!!

I went through a SERIOUS phase of watching Food *****n the Food Network after I was sleeved.  My favorite show was Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  All that fatty, juicy, rich food just looked SO good!  I would watch it for hours at a time, and I still watch it.  It never made me indulge, as I think I was living vicariously through the people on the show when they would eat.  So, I don't think it's a big deal.  Just stick to your plan and it'll be fine.

I did the same thing, and still am a "Chopped" fanatic. I really liked watching FN before, but since I started my liquid diet I know I probably watch at least one food show a day! It doesn't bother me or make me want to go out and have it, so it's been fine. But if you do feel yourself getting tempted, back slowly away from the T.V.....

I love Chopped and Cupcake Wars.  I've never been a big fan of cupcakes, so I am not drooling when watching.  I like the competitons and to root for different contestants.  I watch HGTV too, which is probably healthier, though I DO drool over some of the houses and renovations that we'll never be able to afford!  LOL

My 2 sisters and I all had weight loss surgery and we did the same exact same thing. I thought it was just us but I see many others have done the same thing.
