Approved!!

I was approved by Aetna today and I'm super excited!!  I'll get a surgery date tomorrow after I finish scheduling the clearance procedures for Cardiac, Pulmonary, and Upper GI.  I'm curious about timing. After I get the surgery date, is there any reason why I should wait to tell my employer that I will be potentially taking medical leave in May (or whatever the month ends up being)?  Would it be best to allow enough time to get the clearance procedure results first?  I'm a super private person at work and don't want to "let the cat out of the bag" prematurely, but I really want to try to get this surgery in May.  In addition, I have to notify my company at least 30 days in advance before taking a medical leave of absence.  Any input would be greatly appreciated.
