Can anyone recommend a good VSG surgeon in Upstate New York (Syracuse area). My friend back east wants to check out WL surgery and can only find those docs who want to do Gastric By Pass...thanks in advance for any recommendations.

It's been 18 months since my VSG and things are great...maintaining @ 10-15 pounds below my goal weight so life is good...feel great...thinking of plastics for tummy and breast but have to save up ;-)

All the best, Cathy

There's a familiar face !!!

Nice to see you post and life is going great!!!

I think it is more NYC, but I've read nothing but great things from OH member MikeyMike about his surgeon and program.

Nice to see you too Frisco...I've been off the radar for awhile...life always seems to take over...I used to be on this site several times a day.

Hope you are doing well too.

Hi Cleckman, i am going thru Highland Hospital in ROC. My dr is Lael Forbes, but I haven't had surg yet. So far so good! They seem very organized and easy to work with.

Thanks, I'll pass the name along to my friend to check it out. I told her she needs to get on this site too. So much support and advice, I wouldn't have done so well without it!

Best to you and good luck with your surgery and weight loss!

If I were in that part of the country, I would check out Mitchell Roslin, though I believe that he's in NYC rather than upstate. He does VSGs, DSs, RNYs and probably bands, too; has been pretty active in the efforts to make RNYs work (revisions and understanding why they don't work...) and is one of the few qualified to do RNY to DS revisions. There is a paper and video (or at least audio) of one of his ASMBS presentations on how the procedure fails the patient (rather than the patient failing the procedure,) kicking around these boards. sp he has a pretty sincere interest in trying to fit the patient with the right procedure rather than selling the procedure that he does.

No personal experience with him, but by his reputation and what he publishes, I would certainly check him out.

Dr. Pham in Buffalo did mine. Still a drive but I went to Syracuse for a different type of surgery and the ride home was not bad. Sister's Hospital where he works out of is awesome!
